 A November 15, 2010 news release stated…

“The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and Microsoft Corp. today announced that North Carolina will be the first state in the nation to offer the Microsoft IT Academy Program to all public high schools statewide.”

Why is this important to you as a Sampson County Schools employee?…

The MS IT Academy does not ONLY include students but faculty and staff as well.  Through the academy, faculty and staff may enroll in MS Office Suite courses and optionally complete testing for official certification/credentials as a Microsoft Office Specialist.

Tell me more…

The MS IT Academy provides the avenue for you to:

·  Gain/strengthen 21st century skills by completing MS IT Academy courses.  The courses are online and can be completed at your own pace.

·  Earn CEUs.  Once you have completed your course(s) use your attendance history, transcripts and any earned certifications as proof of completion for CEUs.  Submit completed course information to Personnel to receive CEUs.

·  Earn MS Office certification/credentials. (Note…certification tests are not required.)

How do I register for a course?…

I have attached 2 documents with the information/steps to registration for a course(s).  Remember that if you take a course it is NOT required that you take the certification exam.  For future purposes, a link will be included on Sampson County Schools’ webpage with information about MS IT Academy Professional Development.

The Technology and Career Technical Education Departments hope you find this professional development opportunity valuable.  If you have questions, feel free to contact me.  Thanks for all you do for the children of Sampson County Schools.
